2018-2019 has been a hopping year in the media center! I have taken on a few different responsibilities this year, which have kept me away from blogging like I would like to! I am thrilled to say that I have been able to continue my fully flexible schedule. This has allowed me to help in so many different ways, and it has also allowed me to work on collection management and development, which I have put to the side for YEARS.
This year we are continuing with our school-wide electives program. It has gone well, and I am sad that it is almost over. It will end at the end of April, and we will use the month of May to get ready for statewide testing. I have genrefied my picture book collection, and I am happy to say that after two years of "in progress" it is finally finished! Circulation has definitely gone up in this area, and that was my goal. Students can easily find the baskets of books they are interested in reading. I am still working on changing the labels in the online catalog, but the baskets are ready to go! This has been a great change, and I can now see what genres and themes need to be added to! Happy Reading! It's almost SPRING BREAK! (But, as teachers, do we ever really take a break? I have a whole bag of things to work on next week. However, I will be at my house and in my pajamas, so that will be super!)
